Singer, translator, and editor Jean Williams Lunn was born in 1933 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the daughter of Susan Williams and John Aleck Lunn. She attended private schools in Cambridge and Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated from Radcliffe College (A.B. 1955). She studied voice at the Mannes College of Music (1955-1956) and gave concerts in Boston, New York, and other cities in the eastern United States (1957-1966).
